Kuehne is the only veteran player on the USA squad, having also been a part of the Walker Cup matches in 1995 and 2003. He qualified for his fourth US Open in 2007 and reached the quarterfinals of the 2006 US Amateur at Hazeltine National in Chaska, Minn. He was also a member of the USA 2006 World Amateur team. A 1995 graduate of Oklahoma State, he was runner-up at the 2006 Sunnehanna Amateur in Johnstown, Pa. He finished fourth at the 2007 Sunnehanna and was a top 10 finisher at the 2006 Players Amateur (sixth) in Bluffton, S.C., and the 2006 Porter Cup (ninth) in Niagara Falls, N.Y.

A career amateur from a prominent family in golf, his younger sister, Kelli, is a two-time US Women’s Amateur champion. His younger brother, Hank, won the 1998 US Amateur. Both are now professional golfers.Trip was the 1994 Amateur runner-up to Tiger Woods. Kuehne’s Walker Cup record is 1-3 in foursomes and 0-2-1 in singles play. He is a principal owner in a private equity firm in Dallas,Texas.
