Playing as an amateur, Lovemark was runnerup at the 2007 Nationwide Tour's Rochester Area Charities Showdown at Somerby Golf Club in Bryon, Minn., where he lost to Chris Riley in a play-off that lasted two holes. He has just completed his freshman year at the University of Southern California where he already made his mark by winning the 2007 NCAA individual championship title. Lovemark also played on the winning 2007 USA Palmer Cup team.
He also played in the PGA Tour's 2007 AT&T National event in Bethesda, Md., where he finished tied for 45th. He was invited to play in the 2006 Western Open, another professional event on the PGA Tour, after winning the prestigious Western Amateur in the Chicago area in 2005. He was a two-time American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) All-American (2004 and 2005). He is playing in his first Walker Cup match.
