Johnson is a recent graduate of Coastal Carolina, where he was a three-time All-American. He highlighted his summer play with wins at the 2007 Monroe Invitational in Pittsford, N.Y., and the 2007 Northeast Amateur in Rumford, R.I. He used an 8 under par 62 in the third round at the Monroe to help him to a fourstroke victory over 72 holes.A 5 under par 64 propelled him to a two-stroke victory after 72 holes at the Northeast Amateur. He tied for ninth at the 2007 NCAA Championship and was named Big South Conference Player of the Year for the third time. He was also a semi-finalist for the Ben Hogan Award, given to the top collegiate golfer. He was a member of the 2007 USA Palmer Cup squad and played in the 2006 Fuji Xerox USA versus Japan Collegiate Golf Championship. He is playing on his first Walker Cup team.
