Knost won the 2007 US Amateur and the US Amateur Public Links Championship at Cantigny Golf Home: Club in Wheaton, Ill., and, in May, finished tied 67th at the 2007 EDS Byron Nelson PGA Tour event in Irving, Texas, where he shot a tournament low 64 in the second round. He won his final match at the APL by a 6 & 4 margin, and was the equivalent of 6 under par for 32 holes. A recent graduate of Southern Methodist University, he was the 2007 Conference USA Player of the Year. He also has top 10 finishes at the 2007 Northeast Amateur (eighth) in Rumford, R.I., the 2007 Jones Cup (fifth) on Sea Island, Ga., and the 2006 Porter Cup (fourth) at Niagara Falls, N.Y. He is playing in his first Walker Cup match.
