A two-time collegiate All-American at the University of Georgia, Kirk won the Ben Hogan Award as the top college golfer in 2007 with a resume that included a school career record seven wins. He was a finalist for the Award in 2006. A mark of consistency, Kirk finished in the top 10 in both the 2006 and 2007 NCAA Championships (second and ninth). He played for the USA squad at the 2006 World Amateur Team Championship, and he played for the winning 2007 USA Palmer Cup squad. He was also runner-up at the 2007 Northeast Amateur in Rumford, R.I., and had top 10 finishes at the 2006 Northeast Amateur, the 2007 Azalea Amateur in Charleston, S.C., and the 2006 Northeast Amateur. He is playing in his first Walker Cup match.
